    2013 Tryout & Clinics Schedule

    U9-U10 (Academy) Sign Up Clinic


    Players attend a sign up clinic and are not evaluated in a tryout. Pre-registration for these clinics is free and players are encouraged to attend all sessions.  Clinics will be held at the Coralville Youth Sports Complex.


    I hereby release the City of Coralville and all Iowa City Alliance staff from any and all liability regarding my child’s participation in the sign up clinic program, including accidental injury sustained and/or any medical problems resulting from involvement in the program.  I also give permission for emergency medical treatment to be administered if necessary in the event that I cannot be reached.  Furthermore, I certify that my child is physically fit and able to perform all program activities.     U11-U18 Tryouts
    • All IC Alliance tryouts will be at the Coralville Youth Sports Complex
    • Pre-register by clicking on the red register button below. There is a $25 registration fee (U11-U18). Limited on-site registration will also be available.  
    • You will receive a numbered t-shirt when you check in at your tryout location.  Wear this t-shirt to all the tryout sessions you attend.  Your tryout number will be posted on the website should you make the team. 
    • All participants are requested to bring their own ball and water bottle. Shin guards and appropriate soccer shoes are required equipment for tryout. 
    • Tryouts are for players in the U11-U18 age groups. Age groups correspond to the player’s age as of August 1, 2013. For example: U11 players for the 2013-2014 season will have a birth date between August 1, 2002 - July 31, 2003. In short, if you are 10 on August 1 then you're a U11 player. 
    • Players are encouraged to attend all tryout dates in their age group. If you are a current U11, you will attend the U12 tryout. 
    • If you cannot attend the official tryouts, or want to tryout during the course of the season, you have to contact Paul Dayrell, Director of Coaching, at pauldayrell@gmail.com to make appropriate arrangements. 

    U11-U18 players will be evaluated in these key areas:
    •         Technical ability: passing, dribbling, shooting and first touch.
    •         Tactical ability: decision making, vision, awareness and positional sense.
    •         Physical attributes: Speed, agility, strength, endurance and power as it relates to soccer.
    •         Psychological: attitude, coach-ability, confidence.

    • Our professional tryout staff will evaluate all players. Player’s are encouraged to attend all tryouts if there is more than one for their age group. Goalkeepers will be included too. 
    • Teams are selected based on a number of different factors. The main factors for consideration are the player’s age, ability (the above assessments taken into consideration), desires and commitment level. 
    • In accordance with Iowa Soccer Association rules and policies, U10 and younger players will be assigned to teams after sign up session. Invites will be issued to players via email, website or a phone call. A player has 24 hours to respond to secure a spot on the roster. 
    • In accordance with Iowa Soccer Association rules and policies, U11-U18 player’s that make the team, will receive an invite after tryouts via a phone call, email or web post; a player will have 24 hours to respond to secure spot on team. Bid day for U11-U13 is June 17 and U14-18 June 27. 
    • The formation of teams is overseen by the Coaching Director, with the assistance of the ICA coaching staff. All players' placements are assigned at his discretion prior to the notification date, taking into account all of the above.

    • Come prepared. This is a tryout and should be treated as such, whether you're new to the club or have been involved for many years. Often, you will be evaluated by coaches that do not work with you every day and thus you will need to show them your technical and tactical ability, as well as your physical and psychological (attitude) attributes. Arriving on time, bringing a ball, shinguards and soccer shoes are requirements.
