CORALVILLE/ALLIANCE YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE RECREATIONAL SOCCER 9-10 YEAR OLD: PHASE THREE ![]() The focus remains strongly on fun, sportsmanship, and the basic fundamentals of the game. Children begin to learn more technical skill development and parent coaches have the opportunity to enjoy coaching the weekend games at this level. The club supports parent coaches with player and coaching clinics, curriculum, and written resources. Games are purely for the enjoyment of the children and should be treated as such by coaches and parents alike. The focus is still largely on the enjoyment of the game and the application of the practice materials. Games are referred by a youth referee and remain very relaxed and positive. All children play at least 50% playing time. Game format: The teams will play 6-on-6 with a goalkeeper, which ensures that players have regular contact with the ball during the game. Players play in a basic league schedule, but no league standings or results are recorded. All players are encouraged to move freely and try all field positions.
