Soccer Club General Try-Out FAQ Question: Is the purpose of try-outs only to find the most competitive players? Answer: No! A series of successful tryouts will sort out the participants and teams so that players can be assigned to teams containing players of similar skills, similar competitiveness, and a similar commitment to training. The Alliance will attempt to place all players who attend try-outs onto appropriate teams. Question: Do only the best players get selected for a team? Answer: No! An assortment of the strongest and not as strong players will be selected. Question: Will coaches always select a star player? Answer: Not always. It’s true that coaches like players who can play the game; however, coaches are looking for the ”right” player, not necessarily the best player. Question: My child is 10 years old and already plays on an Alliance team; will he have to try out for his spot? Answer: Absolutely not. Try-outs will only be conducted for players who are U13 and older heading into the fall season. Question: My family will be out of town and my son/daughter will not be able to attend during the try-out dates. Does this mean that they can’t get onto an Alliance team? Answer: No! We do recognize that some players will miss the try-out process as a result of being out of town. If you know that you’re going to miss the entire try-out process, you must inform the Alliance Director of Coaching as soon as possible in order to be placed onto an Alliance team. Question: I am not a current Alliance player, do I still have to register for try-outs, or can I sign up on the day? Answer: It is preferred that ALL prospective players register for try-outs online at www.icalliance.org. Players may register onsite, but online registration is strongly encouraged and preferred for all participants. Question: My son/daughter currently plays up an age level, should they try-out in their own age group, or should they try-out for the team that they are currently on? Answer: Players who currently play up an age level, or players who wish to be considered for an older team, should try-out for the team that they wish to play on. Players can attend multiple try-outs if they want to.
Specific Procedural FAQ Question: My child will be U13 heading into the fall season, and is currently on an Alliance team. Does he have to register for the try-outs? Answer: Yes! All players U13 and above MUST register to try-out for Alliance teams. Question: How do I register my child for Alliance Try-outs? Answer: There is an online registration form that must be completed by all players who wish to try-out. This form can be found on the Alliance web site at www.icalliance.org. If you do not have e-mail access, you may register onsite. Question: I registered online today, and I received an e-mail providing my son with a try-out number and try-out schedule. What is the purpose of the number? Answer: All players who register to try-out will receive a number. The results of the try-out will be posted online at www.icalliance.org. The try-out number assigned to each player will be used to identify the player, and his/her team assignment. Question: When will the try-out results (team assignments) be announced? Answer: Team assignments for all players will be published online at www.icalliance.org. U13 boys and girls will be published the morning of June 20th, and all other players (U14 and older) will have their team assignments published the morning of June 28st, 2007. After reviewing the team assignment, parents/players MUST send an e-mail to the club accepting or rejecting their roster spot. This must be done 24 hours after receiving notification of the team assignment. E-mail the club at alliancekixx@mchsi.com. Question: Where can I find the try-out dates and schedule? Answer: The try-out schedule including dates, times, and the location is listed on the Alliance website at www.icalliance.org. This information will also be listed on the receipt that you will receive from the club upon registering online. |
