COMPETITIVE CLUB SOCCER U13-U18
U13-U18 teams compete in either the State-initiated Iowa Premier Soccer League (IPSL) or the Midwest Regional League (MRL), in an 11v11 format on full-sized fields. IPSL allows coaches to place teams in appropriate developmental divisions, determined by ability, not age, matching like abilities together for the most competitive games. The MRL is an elite level league that only elite teams can compete in. Any team entering the MRL, must receive written permission from the Iowa Soccer Association.
The Iowa City Alliance is the only club in Eastern Iowa to enter teams in the MRL as we believe that optimal player/team development can only occur if teams compete at the highest, most appropriate level. Despite the increased, extended regional travel, we are committed to the MRL as the most appropriate environment for elite level teams and players.
All U13-U18 teams are eligible to compete in the Iowa State Cup and will attend between 2 and 4 tournaments per season.
U11-U14 teams train twice weekly, during the Spring, Fall and Winter seasons. U15-U18 train three times weekly during the Summer and Fall seasons and twice weekly during the winter.
Player’s attend annual ‘age appropriate’ tryouts. Players will be evaluated on technical/tactical ability as well as their physical and psychological strengths.
Players will be evaluated in these key areas;
The Alliance believes that putting like skills together and developing the entire team at the level they are capable of and focusing on specific training based on ability is in the best interest of all players and teams.
